The Swedish WESTCOAST Music site - Tribute to Warren Wiebe

Warren Wiebe

This site will be a tribute to singer/vocalist Warren Wiebe who passed away October 25, 1998. Warren WIEBE was born July 18th 1953 and raised by Abraham and Ruby Wiebe in San Diego and made his first recording at the age of 14.

He was doing trio gigs as a bass player with one of his best friends, Brian Price, and culminated his career in Los Angeles by singing with the best of the best, under the guidance of David Foster. Gifted with a three-octave vocal range and relative pitch, Warren had performed for bands specializing in standards, Jazz, Blues, Funk, Soul, Hip-Hop, Pop, Rock, and the Motown sound. Warren just loved to sing. He could do a perfect Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, James Brown, Paul Rodgers, or Garth Brooks.

His excellent vocals can be listened on many albums such as "River Of Love", "Walkaway", "This Must Be Love", "Is There A Chance" and "Living For The Moment" on David Foster's album "River Of Love". Warren had worked in the studio with many of Los Angeles' most talented producers and songwriters including Quincy Jones, Kal David,

Marc Shaiman, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weill, Paul Anka, Richard Perry, Diane Warren, Carole Bayer Sager, Humbertico Gatica, Jay Graydon, Marilyn & Alan Bergman, Lamont Dozier, Dean Pitchford, Stanley Clarke, Debra Blando, Steve Dorff, Mike Gealer, and many others.

Warren Wiebe was the featured vocalist on the Voices That Care demo which was produced to support US troops in the Persian Gulf, and Warren was interviewed for the documentary video. The video and the single were both awarded Platinum records by the RIAA as over one million copies were sold. Additionally, Warren sang the demo for Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster's song to benefit the pediatric AIDS foundation. Over the years he surrounded himself with all kinds of people, and he never lost sight that he considered himself in the group of the many, instead of the group of the few. Although he certainly belonged in the group of the few, he never acted it. He always remained down to earth and approachable.

In July 18th this year (2003) Warren Wiebe should have celebrated his 50th birthday. We all miss Warren very much, but still will his music always be there as a memory of one of the best singer/ vocalist ever. The music will never die!
