Journey names Jeff Scott Soto official new lead singer
Jeff Scott Soto
has been officially named the new lead singer of Journey. He had been filling in for
Steve Augeri, who had to leave the
U.S. tour with Def Leppard shortly
after it began on June 23 due to illness. “We
are so grateful to Steve for all the years he dedicated to Journey,”
says Journey in a joint statement. “We thank
Steve for all his hard work and we wish him only the best in his future
endeavors. Over the past few months, we’ve come to realize that Jeff has proven
himself above and beyond that he can sing the hell out of our songs and we’re
happy to officially welcome him as part of the family. We’re excited to start a
new chapter with Jeff and we’re excited about what the future may bring.”
Steve Augeri
states: “Singing for Journey these last
eight years have been the most challenging and the most rewarding of my career.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the band, and especially the
fans, for the privilege of being part of a musical legacy that has touched so
many hearts and souls. I wish my fellow bandmates success and happiness as they
continue to make great music in the future, as I will strive to do the same
myself.”
Jeff Soto also
adds: “With delight &
pleasure, I am accepting the offer to continue my tenure with Journey now as
their permanent vocalist after the amazing past months we have spent together on
tour. I also pay high respect to Steve Augeri for coming in and helping Journey
continue their legacy for nearly the last decade and to Steve Perry for
co-creating this legacy. I hope to now add and help drive Journey into the next
stage of this bands future.”
Since Soto’s first appearance with Journey on July 7 in Bristow, VA, his
performances have been garnering rave reviews. To wit:
“Right
off the bat, Journey’s new lead singer is fantastic. Jeff Scott Soto is a
supremely talented vocalist who handled with ease the many sky-high notes and
the mile-long range in Journey s repertoire. Steve Perry fans have never gotten
over the original lead singer s departure from the band, but I am here to tell
you this guy rocks the role. And yes, if you close your eyes he sounds just like
Perry, but -- dare I say it? -- maybe even more passionate and full of verve.
Hits such as ‘I will Be Alright Without You’ and ‘Wheel in the Sky’ showcased
his mighty voice.” --Lorilee Craker, Grand Rapids Press.
“The
one-time Yngwie Malmsteen vocalist channeled (Steve) Perry flawlessly, nailing
all the high notes and then some…Soto’s got it going on.” --Christopher John
Treacy, Boston Herald.
“Could
Soto cut it? Yes. And then some. His vocals and stage presence were impressive.”
--Dave Ferman, Ft. Worth Star-Telegram.
“Soto
is a really strong vocalist, so instead of struggling to emulate (Steve) Perry’s
laser-beam vibrato, he can get away with a style that mixes grainy power with
effortless key changes.” --Johnny Loftus, Metro Times Detroit.
Steve Augeri is currently recording
his debut solo album, In the Moment, due out the summer of 2007. He’s also
putting the finishing touches on the much-anticipated follow-up to the AOR
classic Tall Stories album, launching early next year. For more info, visit
Steve Augeri Website.
In 1989 Arvid released his debutalbum "Så
Længe Det Svinger". It became a big hit in Denmark and
Arvid´s music where pop related, but with influence from
Michael McDonald and the west coast music sound,
Therefore Arvid where called the "danish Michael
McDonald".
After his solo debut album
Arvid was hired as studio musician and has done many
sessions
as a background vocalist, both an albums
and television programs. Beside that he has been having
solo tracks on different compilations albums.
Now 17
years after the debut release Arvid finally is out with
his next album called "Dedicated To The Women", a
production were he has been 100 % in control of the
process. At this album Arvid is having a collaboration
with one of his biggest idols and inspirations since he
was a kid - the legendary Bruce Swedien. Bruce has mixed
two of the tracks on the album, which consists of a
total of 12 tracks. Another two tracks have been mixed
by his good friend Peter Busborg, who also has
contributed in a number of other ways to the making of
the album. Yet, another two tracks have been,
beautifully, mixed by Danish producer legend, Stig
Kreutzfeldt, whose opinions and great experience has
valued a lot to Arvid as an artists.
Tommy Denander joins Mecca!!!! TOMMY DENANDER WALKS TOWARDS MECCA:
This just in from Mecca frontman Joe Vana:
"Tommy Denander is one of the most hired and sought after writers,
producers and guitar players today, and has turned down many offers from known
bands to join them. Even though he will keep making Radioactive albums,
they are only a project and Mecca is a band, and as Tommy puts it "Not
just any band!"
Tommy has accepted becoming a full member of the Mecca family. His track record
of more than 1,000 albums and working almost every known name in rock speaks for
itself, but as Tommy says "In some ways it's also what's required to become a
member of Mecca, anything less just won't cut it, I take pride in the task of
creating another dimension to my work together with Joe and the guys in Mecca."
Alongside of the great Bobby Kimball and Joe Vana on Lead Vocals,
the Mecca line-up consists of Shannon Forrest (Drums), David
Hungate (Bass), Gordon Mote (Keys) and Christian Wolff (guitar)
with Steve Lukather and Steve Farris making an appearance as guest
players on the album. The line-up is complete and stronger than ever.
That is not to diminish the great contribution that Fergie Frederiksen
and Jim Peterik gave to Mecca 1 - Joe Vana adds "I can never
repay those guys enough for their talent and contribution to making my dream a
reality with Mecca 1. Sitting around Jim's piano writing songs for Mecca was a
dream realized.... I will never forget it." "As far as the new album
Catharsis goes, the writing synergy between Tommy and I so far has been amazing,
we think so much alike in terms of melody and space but sounds very different
melodically than what we both have done separately, so it truly is a union of
ideas..... this album will be a mix between Peter Gabriel and Mecca....
I am going to push the Hell out of myself and Tommy to play and sing better than
we ever have. Plus, I have the one of my closest friends Bobby singing next to
me.... not to mention that he is the single greatest Rock singer ever IMO. There
is no 'almost good enough' for this album. We have four tunes that Richard
Page gave us to record and 8 that we wrote...I waited three years to
assemble the needed material to do this album.... Every song had to be good
enough to be on Mecca 1 or better, or it didn't make it... Bobby will push me
vocally to the edge, I'm not playing it safe this time."
Bobby Kimball comments about the songs:
"I'm not going to be nice about
it, because that's not how great songs get written. We mortals have to put aside
our feelings and go for what's best for the song....". Enough said.
Visit
www.myspace.com/meccaofmusic to hear samples of the first two created by
this new writing duo. Mecca will be completed first quarter of 2007 and
released on Frontiers Records.

Frontiers Records is excited to launch
the release of the forthcoming KELLY KEAGY
new solo album entitled "I'm Alive" on
January 26th 2007.
KELLY KEAGY
is better known as drummer / singer with the US Melodic
Rock heroes NIGHT
RANGER. NIGHT RANGER’s first album “Dawn
Patrol” (1982), reached number 38 on the U.S. charts,
yet it was 1983’s “Midnight Madness” that established
the band as a commercial force. Featuring the hits “(You
Can Still) Rock in America” and “Sister Christian”, the
record peaked at number 15 and sold over 1 million
copies. 1985’s “7 Wishes” was even more successful,
reaching number 10 on the charts. The band reformed in
the mid-90s and has since released 4 more albums.
In 2001,
Kelly took a turn down the solo album trail. “Time
Passes” saw Kelly handling drums and vocals
and collaborating with such artists as Jim Peterik,
Kevin Chalfant, Brian Bart with obvious features from
his band mates Brad Gillis, Jack Blades and Jeff Watson.
To date, Kelly and
NIGHT RANGER are busy working on a new studio
album. But in the meanwhile he found the time and the
inspiration to finish his second solo work entitled “I'm
Alive”. The new record was written and
produced by Keagy in cooperation with Jim Peterik
(PRIDE OF LIONS, ex SURVIVOR) and also features
contributions from Kelly’s THE MOB band mate Reb Beach
(WINGER, WHITESNAKE), Mike Aquino
(PRIDE OF LIONS, MECCA), Brian Bart,
Bruce Gaitsch,
Tommy Denander
on guitar and Michael
Lardie (GREAT WHITE, NIGHT RANGER) on
keyboards among others.
The
new album sees Keagy exploring a slightly rougher
edge compared to his debut album with a more live
feel in the mix. “I
look forward to playing these songs live, as they
were written to be played live”, says
Kelly and the joyful ride that this record offers,
proves just that!
Former
TOTO
singer Fergie
Fredriksen is putting his finishing touches
to the recording of the long awaited FREDRIKSEN / DENANDER
project. There will be 12 songs included on the album
and according to guitar player Tommy Denander “This
stuff is killer!”. Frontiers hope to receive
the finished master within the end of 2006 in order to
schedule the release for the first half of 2007.
We are proud to annonunce that the CD

on this production previous empty Corin and Göran Edman

Frontiers Records
(Zink/Bonnier Amigo) is particularly excited to announce
the release of STYX
& the Contemporary Youth Orchestra album “One
With Everything” on the European markets on
November 10th 2006! STYX and CYO cooperation started
last year when the band was asked to join the Orchestra
for a concert. Having in the past worked with solo
artists, including Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo, Ray
Manzarek, Graham Nash and Jon Anderson, it was not the
first time for them to be involved with Rock music, but
was definitely their premiere with a full scaled band!
STYX has
performed only one other time with a symphony and “while
it was a wonderful experience, we had not been inclined
to revisit it until we heard that the members of this
particular orchestra were all between the ages of
thirteen and nineteen” says STYX singer and
guitar player Tommy Shaw, adding “From
the very beginning, the enthusiasm has been
extraordinary. Their grasp of our music, their
flexibility and willingness to go far beyond what any of
us imagined, has been incredible. Director Liza
Grossman is to be hailed as the heroine extraordinaire
tonight, for her steady guidance and the unflinching
belief in the members of CYO”.
On
May 25, 2006 then STYX took the stage in Cleveland
for a new venture accompanied by the 115 piece
Contemporary Youth Orchestra and a 60 member chorus.
With a setlist that combined the band’s classics,
new songs and cover versions, this was a truly
unique event.
This
very special album will include the following 14
songs (not final order):
Blue Collar Man; One With Everything; Don't Make
Sense (If You Can't Make Peace); Everything, All The
Time (NEW SONG); I Am The Walrus; Just Be (Studio
Version, NEW SONG); Fooling Yourself; Boat On The
River; I Don't Need No Doctor; Crystal Ball; Too
Much Time On My Hands: A Criminal Mind; Miss
America; Renegade.
MTM MUSIC
(Zink/Bonnier Amigo) is proud to announce the release of
the brand new ZENO album "Runway To The Gods"!
It
always takes many years for
ZENO to please the
AOR and Classic Rock fans with a new album. But when the
album is finally released – it’s always a masterpiece!
Now, 8 years after “Listen to the Light“,
ZENO
returns with another rock jewel called
“Runway To The
Gods“!
In 1984,
Zeno Roth the younger brother of ULI JON ROTH formed the
band
ZENO
with ULE RITGEN (FAIR WARNING).
ZENOs
self-titled first album “ZENO” was released in
1985 and toured with BLACK SABBATH, KROKUS, KEEL and
also played a festival with QUEEN in the UK. His first
album, the follow-up "Zenology" and “Listen to the
Light” reached many different charts, #25 in the
‘Foreign Music Charts’ and #2 in the ‘Rock Music Charts’
among others.
In 2004,
MTM CLASSIX re-released ZENOs self-titled debut album
from 1985 and "Zenology II" which was a compilation of
previously unreleased ZENO songs.
After 8 years the wait is finally over: “Runway To The
Gods“ is a masterpiece of finest musicianship, song
writing and production. Sophisticated arrangements with
strong melodies and an outstanding instrumentation make
this album play in heavy rotation. With
“Runway To The
Gods”, Zeno Roth impressively proves what
a fantastic musician he is: he recorded most of the
album on his own and even performed the lead vocals on
one song. The other lead vocals are handled by no other
than former
JADED HEART singer
Michael Bormann, who delivers an awesome
performance on this album. Truly a highlight!
The release of
"Runway To The God"
is scheduled on
MTM MUSIC
(Zink/Bonnier Amigo) on October 18.

Kingdom Come
Frontiers Records (Zink/Bonnier Amigo) is pleased to
announce the completion of KINGDOM COME’s new studio
album entitled “Ain’t Crying For The Moon” to be
released in Europe on October 18.
“After
having done a lot of experimenting with “Perpetual”,
says Lenny Wolf,
the mastermind behind KINGDOM COME,
“I thought it
was the time to take out the axe again and rock the
house. The new CD will be one of my heaviest
recordings ever. I was trying to build “walls of
guitars” in combination with that typical KC moody
and spacey approach. It does not have the typical
“blues” factor anymore, which many of you may
remember from the first records. I have transported
my roots into the year 2006”.
Still the new album keeps on having a very personal
and quite recognizable touch, even if KINGDOM COME
is an ever-evolving musical reality.
Of
course “when we will
come to your towns, we will definitely play songs from
our early days as well”, adds Wolf who, as a
special gift to the fans, decided to include in the new
album track-listing an exclusive remake of KINGDOM
COME’s first US hit “Get
It On”, originally released on the band’s
debut album in 1988.
“Ain’t Crying For The Moon” shall include the
following tracks (click on the song title to hear an
mp3 sample):
Two Legged Sheep; Not Here To Be Your Friend;
Same Old Stars;
Ain't Crying For The Moon;
Perfect Citizen; This Is My Life; Bon Scott;
Removed The Sting;
Friends In Spirit; Darkroom; Look At You; Across
The Universe; Get It On (2006 version).
Frontiers Records
(Zink Music/Bonnier Amigo) is pleased to unleash all
details surrounding the much talked come-back album
from WINGER
simply entitled "IV".
13
years since the release of the critically acclaimed
record “Pull”,
WINGER
are now a five-piece band comprising of Kip Winger
(on vocals and bass), Reb Beach
(on guitar), Rod
Morgenstein (on drums), John Roth
(on guitar and keyboards) and the new addition, Cenk Eroglu
(guitar and keyboards).
The new
album, according to Kip Winger
is “the result
of my chemistry with Reb Beach”.
"Songwriting and
composition are the most important thing to me",
continues Kip, “In my opinion good songs are a
combination of life, experience and accident. On WINGERIV all of
those things came together. Reb and I are more
comfortable with each other now and our musical
roles with respect to each other are more clearly
defined”.
"IV"
is definitely a career-defining album for the
experienced musicians that created it. "This
was a very magical record. I gave it everything I
had, I thought of the overwhelming support I've had
over the years by the die hard fans and really
wanted to give them something worth listening to",
says Winger.
The
record has a very diverse feel: the aggression of
tracks like "Right
Up Ahead", "M16”
or “Livin’ Just
To Die”, the mystical elements "Disappear",
the lyricism and sheer melodies of "Blue
Suede Shoes", "On
A Day Like Today" and the political
elements of “Can’t
Take It Back” and “Generica”.
The album has something for everyone.
"Several
songs on this record” reveals Kip, “were
inspired by my experience performing at a few
military bases, after meeting some of the men and
women who are in the line of fire. I wrote songs
like "Blue Suede
Shoes", “Right
Up Ahead” and “M16”
as a way of giving something back to the soldiers
who sacrifice themselves for the rest of us to live
free"
WINGER's
return album will be unleashed on the markets on Frontiers Records
(Zink Music/Bonnier Amigo) on October 20th 2006
with the following final track-listing (click
the links for sound-clips):
Frontiers Records
(Zink/Bonnier Amigo) are pleased to announce the European
release of JOHN WAITE’s
new studio album “Downtown
- Journey Of A Heart” on July 5 2006.
The new
record is a selection of classic songs from Waite’s
repertoire which have been completely re-arranged and
re-recorded from scratch. “It’s
a sort of a greatest hits retrospective release that also
looks ahead, a way to express musically the different phases
on my career”, explains the Lancaster-born
singer.
John Waite
has had several songs — including "Missing
You", the
BABYS "Isn't
It Time" and
BAD ENGLISH's "When
I See You Smile" — becoming radio staples
worldwide. Even if best known for his ballads, John is truly
a rocker in his heart.
“This
new record is a way to connect together the three different
parts of my career, with Babys, Bad English and as a solo
artist”, says Waite, adding “The
approach to the new recording of the old classics was very
simple and basic, based on the way I play the songs live.
Direct and rock… just guitars, Hammond, piano… no synth”.
In addition
to a careful selection of his classics, Waite recorded two
new songs. “Highway
61”, an
infectious Bob Dylan cover which is straight ahead blues
rock and “St. Patrick's
Day”, a cinematic lullaby about two people
meeting in New York and falling in love. Both represent the
direction I am about to take next for the prosecution of my
solo career”.
The final
track-listing of “Downtown
- Journey Of A Heart” includes the following
songs: The Hard Way; In
Dreams; Blue Venus; Missing You; Keys To Your Heart; Highway
61; Isn’t It Time; St. Patrick’s Day; New York City Girl;
Headfirst; Downtown; When I See You Smile.
JORDAN is a brand new swedish band
and has received much attention and appreciation the
short time they've officially existed. The music has

MTM MUSIC is
happy to announce the following statement by Fredrik
Bergh, the main man behind Swedish Melodic Rock Act
STREET TALK:
"In January 2005, exactly one year after the release of
the compilation album "Destination", which was supposed
to be the final release by STREET TALK, I decided to
compose music for a possible new Street Talk studio
album. I made the decision to start writing after
receiving some amazing feedback from fans around the
world who wanted Street Talk to continue! Within a
couple of months the music for around 15 songs was
written and after speaking to vocalist and writing
partner Goran Edman and guitar wiz Sven Larsson the
decision was made to revive Street Talk!"
Edman says:
"I'm really looking forward to the new album. This time
things will have the chance to grow in my own garden so
to speak. More time spent on arrangements and time to
live with the songs as they develop in my homestudio
before the final mix. From experience this have proved
to be a good recipe for making a fine stew with XsavioR
fresh in mind."
Bergh
continues: "I'm very
excited about working on a brand new album together with
those great cats! I'm sure this will be our best album
ever as I feel that the material is very strong and the
production is going to be absolutely top notch as we're
recording the album in the improved Studio Soundcreation."
The line up
is the same as on the "Restoration" album:
Goran Edman-Vocals, Fredrik Bergh-Keyboards, Sven
Larsson-Guitars, Bjorn Lodmark-Bass, Christian
Johansson-Drums.
Tracklist:
01. RESPONSIBLE
02. DON'T BELIEVE
03. IF I COULD
04. AT THE END OF THE DAY
05. FAMILY BUSINESS
06. JUST A LITTLE APPETIZER
07. SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE
08. GROUNDHOG DAY
09. SNIPER
10. OH MADDY

The
forthcoming studio album will be entitled "V" and is
scheduled for June 2006!
TOMMY DENANDER finished his
new DEACON STREET and the line-up will definitely whet
every AOR / melodic rock fan’s appetite!
The project DEACON
STREET originally started out with Tommy and his partner
Chris Demming (AOR, Spin Gallery), who had written songs
together for various artists and found themselves with a
lot of very good but unused AOR / melodic rock songs.
But, as Tommy points out, “Don't mistake it for a cheap
and fast way to get some leftover songs out - If you're
a serious fan of classy melodic rock you won't be
disappointed with the quality of this release”.
The new album by
DEACON STREET, “II”, now features even bigger names:
Stan Bush, Christopher Cross, Jeff Watson (Night Ranger),
Steve Morse (Kansas, Deep Purple), Reb Beach (Winger,
Dok-ken), Bruce Gaitsch (Richard Marx, Madonna, Peter
Cetera), Thomas Vikström (Talk Of The Town), Andreas
Novak, Johan Fahlberg (Jaded Heart), Bobby Messano (Glen
Burtnick, Fiona, Joe Lynn-Turner), Bill Leverty (Firehouse)
among others.
“II”
includes 14 great AOR / melodic
rock songs in the vein of JOURNEY and GIANT, enhanced by
an admirable musician-ship, beautiful arrangements, and
an excellent production. This makes DEACON STREET’s “II”
a definite must-have for fans of the artists mentioned
above and of course for everyone who enjoys fine and
well-produced AOR & melodic rock!

creative and successful bands in history, has chosen WMG
for the release of its long-awaited album, XXX. We’re
looking forward to putting the marketing and promotional
muscle of both Rhino and Warner Bros. Records behind
this fantastic album.”
“Since
2002 we have broken new ground by forging a completely
unique and tremendously successful relationship with
Chicago and the band’s management,” says Scott Pascucci,
President of Rhino Entertainment. “The double-platinum
success of The Very Best Of Chicago: Only The
Beginning was, indeed, only the beginning. CHICAGO
XXX is a tribute to the band’s ongoing creative
longevity.”
Chicago manager Peter Schivarelli puts it simply: “There
is no better home for this record than Rhino and the

keyboards, guitar), Jason Scheff (bass, vocals), Tris
Imboden (drums) and Keith Howland (guitar, vocals).
The album was produced by Jay DeMarcus of the famed

the album.
A perennial force on the road, Chicago will be touring
this summer with the legendary Huey Lewis the News.
Since forming in 1967, Chicago has become one of the
best-loved and most successful rock groups ever, thanks
to their incredible sense of pop-savvy and innovative
use of horns in a rock context. The band’s worldwide
sales exceed 100 million records and include five
consecutive #1 albums and 21 Top 10 and 35 Top 40
singles. Chicago is the only American rock band to chart

Escape Music are pleased to announce
the signing of the Swedish / American melodic hard rock
band CODE. CODE is a brand new band consisting of Sherwood
Ball (ex Jay Graydon "all star band"); vocals and guitar,
Ola af Trampe; guitar and Anders Rydholm; bass, keyboards,
guitars. Since December 2004 they have been busy writing
songs for a melodic rock album. 40 songs later they have
narrowed it down to 13 really melodic and heavy songs.
Recordings have taken place in Växjö,
Sweden and Hollywood, California, USA. Right now, they are
doing the final recordings for this album. Guest artists
on the album are singer Per Svensson, co-lyricists Rob Meister,
Scott Moyer and drummer Gregg Bissonette (David Lee Roth,
Steve Vai, Steve Lukather, Joe Satriani, TOTO and the list
goes on ). It's hard to tell exactly, but the album will
probably be released early summer 2006.
"Past to Present - the 70s" is the 8th
album on Jay Graydon's own record label Sonic Thrust Records.
From the Garden Rake Studios tape vault... super sounds
of the 70s... an album as close to AIRPLAY as it will ever
get... featuring Jay Graydon on vocals, guitars, bass and
some synth stuff; great singers such as Bill Champlin, Marc
Jordan, Tata Vega, Lisa DalBello, Ed Whiting and more.
On all tracks other musicians include
such top names as David Foster, Jeff Porcaro, Mike Baird,
David Hungate, Mike Porcaro, Greg Mathieson, to name a few.
The album has 20 tracks and this stuff has never been released
before. Apart from the main songs, there are a few bonus
tracks - fun stuff like TV themes, a jingle, and also 2
instrumental tracks.
