My Land

My Land project started on 1992 in Milan former drummer/songwriter Paolo Morbini (ex EVA, EXILIA, BRUNOROCK’S drummer), after a long experience made into many Milan’s area rock bands performing original material and cover repertoire from most famous rock bands of the world.

Early 90’s Paolo have been working in Milan for most important Musical Academy in Italy and there met brothers Stefano (keyboard) and Marco Andreasi (guitar) who were also huge Aor/melodic rock fans just like Paolo was and still is.

Guido Priori (vocal Journey tribute demo) and Adalberto Rizzoli (bass) both grew up into many Milan’s rock bands ,  were also oldest Paolo’s buddies and sometime they jammed into various  rock venue performing most of all songs from Toto/Journey/Survivor’s stuff. Paolo Morbini, after many years of live playing (credited around at 1.700 dates today) decided to record first debut album under “My Land” monicker asking the other members of the band to join his project.

The album was wrote, arranged, mixed and produced by Paolo himself and was recorded and mixed into some different steps, using 4 different recording studios one at the time. For once the album was finished (2005) the band was so happy and proud by the final result and this gave the band a special input for looking a deal and a label interested on  producing and distribute the album over the world hopefully.

The band decided to collect on My Land ‘s album their most important melodic rock musical influences, as you can easily listening on the promo copy in your hands, trying to capture the sounds as much as live they can concentrating their efforts on melody lines , powerful chorus/ vocals and instrumental parts as well. In the light of the fact that “My Land” is still remains a project, all the members have actually busy with other bands on the road actually, even though Paolo has already wrote some new original material for a second My Land album next to come.

Important note: another song “Broken Dreams” will be available soon on the full version of the album “The time is over”.

Rob B. feat. Andrew Gold
– Did You Get What You Want -

The new Andrew Gold single – his first in years – is called “Did You Get What You Want”. It was released by DMG Germany in September 2005 and became available at several internet download portals in November 2005.

The story behind this production is quite unique and it makes this track even more interesting: An Andrew Gold fan and amateur songwriter by the name of Robert Baitinger from Germany asked Andrew in 2004 if he would record and produce one of Robert´s songs. The song - “Did You Get What You Want” - turned out to be far better than both had ever imagined. It got airplay time at various radio stations and lots of positive response from the public and experts from the music business. In this production they call themselves “Rob B. featuring Andrew Gold”.

"Did You Get What You Want" is a song about the final phase of a couple´s partnership when he finds out that she is cheating on him. Feelings of anger, sadness, resignation, hope and melancholia are cleverly mixed together in this musical masterpiece. Robert Baitinger wrote the song in 1987 and Andrew Gold made it come to life when adding the finishing touches in the studio during the recording in 2004.

The production consists of strong rock and pop elements combined with extremely catchy melodies and a sing-along refrain. The lyrics are sensual and well-worded, with an excellent flow. Written critiques say the music has a strong pop appeal with a nice 70´s vibe that the listener won´t be able to get enough of. The emotional ups and downs of the described situation are brilliantly mapped to the musical interpretation of the song. The title is a perfect choice.

Andrew´s powerful lead vocals emphasize the emotional sentiment of the song and the complex background vocals from Andrew and Robert are expertly mixed. The choice of instruments is excellent and the blend of rhythm and solo guitars really make the song rock. It is hard to believe that this production is a one-man show with Andrew playing all of the instruments. The production has exceptional qualities from beginning to end. The “Song Of The Year Contest” experts analyzed 10 elements of the track and it got a sensational overall average rating of 9.3 on a scale from 1 to 10. The song fits into the timeless Southern California mold pioneered by the likes of the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, America and Jackson Browne, among others. Fans of this style of music will be very pleased with this song.

Andrew Gold, a pop star from the 70s (Lonely Boy, Thank You For Being A Friend) and former WAX member (Right Between The Eyes, Bridge To Your Heart) produced this song mid February, 2004 at QBRAIN Studios in his home near Hollywood, California. He is famous for his instrumental and vocal virtuosity. He gave this production its distinctive West Coast sound. He also plans on including this song on his upcoming new album "Singer Songwriter".

You can purchase the single at the following internet portals: Musicload - AOL - Finetunes. International portals will follow soon.

Boz Scaggs - Fade Into Light

"Fade Into Light," an intimate and understated studio album from the singer BOZ SCAGGS, was released by Virgin Records on September 27, 2005. Previously released by Virgin Japan, "Fade Into Light" has become a much-sought-after prize among Scaggs aficionados who've paid high prices for the import. It offers "unplugged" versions of some of Scaggs' best-known songs, along with several new compositions. Included in this U.S. Virgin DualDisc edition is a new recording by Scaggs of the 80's classic, "Love TKO."

Pictures from www.bozscaggs.com

The DVD side of the U.S. package contains the entire album in Enhanced Stereo, along with concert performances in 5.1 Surround Sound and High Definition Video of "Lowdown," "Harbor Lights" and "We're All Alone," taken from the "Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits Live" DVD, recorded in San Francisco.

When asked about his approach to this production, Scaggs says: "I've always worked like this in my recording. I hire good musicians and let them do what they do. What you hear on this album is those guys, in that room, on that day." Scaggs initiated the original session when he was hired to write and record the title track as a theme song for a Japanese film. Later, the label requested four more songs to make up an EP, and then more songs to make a full album. Scaggs and the band recorded new arrangements of his classic songs "Lowdown," "Harbor Lights" and "We're All Alone," from his landmark album "Silk Degrees," as well as "Simone" from 1980's "Middle Man," along with several newly written songs, at Skywalker Sound in Northern California. Among the players joining Boz are Nathan East, Greg Phillinganes, David Paich, Ray Parker, Jr., Lenny Castro, Dean Parks and Booker T. Jones. Tom Scott did the solo on "Lowdown."

Toto

Frontiers Records is immensely proud to announce the signing of rock legends TOTO for the release of their forthcoming new studio album "Falling In Between".

WebLinks: www.frontiers.it

www.toto99.com

www.stevelukather.net
www.simon-phillips.com
www.mike-porcaro.com
www.bobbykimball.com

Almost thirty years of history, seven Grammy Awards won, twelve studio records with almost 30 millions of records sold, record breaking tours and a loyal following of young and old fans and musicians who have won every possible award one can get! This and more is what TOTO has counted in the history of rock music.

Now, six years after their latest - all original - album Mindfields and with new member Greg Phillinganes in the line-up on keyboards, together with fellow keyboard players David Paich and Steve Porcaro, TOTO are now ready to unleash a brand new studio album.

TOTO’s guitar player, Steve Lukather describes “Falling in Between” as a labour of love and “something we REALLY wanted to do and try to make it our personal best".

Recorded by the band over a period of about six months in Los Angeles, with Steve MacMillan (long time Trevor Horn collaborator) taking care of the final mix, the new record has taken shape as the band’s “most daring and inventive release ever” according to Lukather. He adds: “With Mindfields we had just gotten Bobby Kimball back in the band and we were finding our way with it”. Therefore "Falling In Between" sounds more cohesive, with 6 more years of being a band and a music that is fresh, heavier, at times more progressive and of course still with some great radio songs and melodies and the classic TOTO imprint!

The new album is also going to offer many surprises to the fans. "Our old singer Joseph Williams came back and did a duet with me that's total radio, almost like Africa part 2" explains Lukather, "plus there is Ian Anderson (JETHRO TULL), the CHICAGO horn section, L. Shankar (PETER GABRIEL), Lenny Castro and more guests. I think when people hear it everyone will have a smile on the face. EVERYONE in the band brought their best to the party!".

The final tracklisting will include songs like the title track “Falling In Between”, "Simple Life", "Dying On My Feet", "Bottom of Your Soul", “Let it Go", "Nowhere in Sight", "Spiritual Man", "Ain't Your World", "The Reefer Man" and "Hooked".

If this is the last record we even make (it won’t be, I hope)” concludes Lukather, “I can walk away knowing we threw DOWN the best we got. I hope the fans will all enjoy and appreciate the love and passion that went into making "Falling in Between, see you all very soon on tour!".

The band has already confirmed tour dates in Europe in February and March 2006, with a two years long massive World Tour schedule that is set to hit all continents in 2006 - 2007!

"Falling In Between" will reach the shops in early February 2006 on Frontiers Records.

Urs Wiesendanger

Album title
SOMEBODY NEW
Released copies
1000 Numbered
Catalogue #
CSCD-0105
Release date
October 2005

After the debut on the music scene with Steve Dorff's "Original Demos" the Spanish-based record label Contante & Sonante returns with "Somebody New" by talented Swiss songwriter /producer Urs Wiesendanger. This record definitely establishes this emerging label as one of the safe harbors for quality pop today. "Somebody New" showcases the incredible skills of Wiesendanger, who co-wrote, arranged and produced the entire project.

The eleven tracks included here are an amazing journey thorugh sophisticated rhythms and sounds in that particular music zone where pop, jazz and R&B converge.

More info and samples!

"Somebody New" kicks off with the enchanting title track, a gorgeous ballad sung by the unforgettable late Warren Wiebe together with newcomer Courtney Blooding. Blooding is currently the production assistant for David Foster and she wants to follow the footsteps of her mentor working behind the console. However, she is also a first class singer, and here she offers the listener a great performance. Jay Graydon, the legendary songwriter and producer, adds a spectacular guitar solo to the mix. The title song is also offered again at the end of the record with a different, jazzy arrangement co-produced by Tomi Malm, one of the best new talents out of Finland.

The album is rich in haunting ballads like the bittersweet, acoustic "Your Love Was Special," beautifully sung by Michael Sembello, or the smooth, sultry, R&B number "Tell Me Where The Days Have Gone" with Thierry Condor on lead vocals. Bill Cantos, the critically acclaimed singer-songwriter, leaves his mark on the record singing the delicate "The Final Reason Why," a love song that could be a winner on the Adult Contemporary charts. This song features session master Michael Landau on guitar and the extraordinary Robbie Buchanan on Fender Rhodes and piano.

If you're looking for jazzy, refined stuff, listen to "If Only For A Day" and "If You Still Care For Me." "If Only For A Day" is an up-tempo jam with some great vocals courtesy of Swedish singer Frank Ådahl. This track is enhanced by the incredible work of Urs on the acoustic piano and Robbie Buchanan on Fender Rhodes, plus the incredible Porty on the guitar solo. "If You Still Care For Me" offers another outstanding vocal performance by Thierry Condor.

"After We Make Love" and "Morning Light" are two numbers that find the Swiss producer in smooth jazz territory with soft rhythms and vocals underlying his superior keyboard playing. "I Remember" is a magic ballad with an evocative mood and atmosphere, sung by singer-songwriter Jeff Pescetto. Warren Wiebe is indisputably the star of "Hold Me," another wonderful love song with Robbie Buchanan on keyboards and James Harrah playing all the guitars.

Alien

http://www.alien-music.info/

Frontiers Records are pleased to announce the signing of the freshly reunited Swedish band ALIEN for the release of their brand new album entitled “Dark Eyes”.

Comprising 11 tracks touching on the great themes of Rock and Roll: love, loss, hope and despair, “Dark Eyes” revisits the classic Alien sound and adds over a decade more of writing and performing experience. The album will fulfil the dreams of lovers of Scandi-melodic rock and the classic hard rock sound.

Founding members guitarist Tony Borg and singer Jim Jidhed are excited to be on “such a great label alongside great heroes like Journey, Styx, Soul Sirkus, Thunder." Tony said "when our manager told us that Serafino at Frontiers had contacted her about us, we all had a good look at what they do. Other labels had contacted us and other labels we approached, but we all kept talking about Frontiers and how friendly they all are. In the end it wasn't a hard decision at all. We just went with the old "gut feeling" and it feels very right!”.

"I am really excited about the new album” adds Jim. “Both for working with Tony again, which is an absolute joy ride, but also for the fact that we are playing a more traditional style Rock 'n Roll with touches of a classic Alien sound of the new millenium. And I do like that."

"It is a pure pleasure to be working together with Jim again” explains Tony. “Everyone has always told us that there is this special chemistry between us and they are right. We are working fantastically well together. Also Bernie (bass), Mats (keyboards) and Jan (drums) are all incredible musicians and have all the qualities an Alien band member should have”.

“Our new CD sounds very close to what Alien sounded when it all started” concludes Borg, “We've gone back to our roots and what inspired us to become musicians when we wrote the songs for Dark Eyes”. Some of the songs to be included on “Dark Eyes” include “Oh Sarah”, “Riding With The Wind”, “Sherylee”, “Wild One”.

The album shall be released worldwide on Frontiers Records in the fall of 2005 with a domestic release in Japan via Marquee/Avalon.

24th of October is the release date set by Frontiers Records.

And hey, this album is currently being remastered by JAY GRAYDON! This album is a MUST-HAVE for every quality music lover! So be on the lookout for this upcoming album - the remastered re-release with the interviews and new liner notes will sure be worth waiting for!

David Pack

The collection is called "Unborn" and is being released for the first time in the United States with a new bonus track April 12th.

The CD is subtitled "Unreleased, Unrefined, Songs in the Raw 1985-1995" and represents my favorite unreleased songs from the past.

Each song has an interesting history and evolution that is outlined in the extensive liner notes. The title "Unborn" evolved from the songwriter point of view, that songs are like our children and those that haven't been released are like our unborn children... this is a very personal collection.

The US version contains an extra track not found on the Japanese version and improved packaging. All for much less that the going rate for the Japanese import. If you are one of the first 500 to order from coolcds.com, you will receive an autographed copy of the CD for the same price as the regular CD.

JAY MILES collected rock group experiences with his first band GIRLFRIEND at the age of 16. Together with his band STEAMTRAIN (released by EPIC), the 28-year-old entered the European charts. In 1994, Jay decided to find his luck in the United States and re-orientate to the American music market. The current album represents a collection of wonderful songs, which couldn’t be more empathetic and more emotional – well-rehearsed at the highest level by musical legends, who Jay Miles calls his friends these days. That’s what he was dreaming of, when he left his homeland to conquer the “promised land”.

Tommy Denander

A few years ago Tommy and Björne Lindbom (Prisoner) wrote and recorded a song for the 9/11 attacks. The song featured more than 150 of the biggest names in Swedish hardrock including Europe, Yngwie Malmsteen, Mikkey Dee, Hammerfall, Pain and Candlemass.

That project was very poorly handled by the people in charge so the song was pulled and kept to be used if some other tragic incident would happen....well, it doesn't get much worse than the sad situation in Asia right now. With 150.000 dead so far and more than 3500 Swede's missing this is a disaster of a size we can't understand and the need for money is in the billions!!!.

Tommy and Björne is right now putting together a very special DVD that will feature a documentary of how the song was recorded with new interviews with several big names, a music video of the song "Where Is The Fire" plus some 10-15 never before seen and very rare video clips by many of the biggest hardrock bands in Sweden.

It will be sold in Sweden for 100 kr and for about 20 dollars in the rest of the world, ALL profits will go directly to the Red Cross. We really hope that people understand the need to help and this is a great way cause you'll get a lot for little money spent.
